I want to make clear that I do not support the construction of the Great Whale Hydro project. Over the years I have taken various political actions to prevent the construction of the project as instructed by the Cree Nation.

I have worked at the international level to prevent the construction of Great Whale while serving as the Cree Ambassador.

When Jean Charest and Mario Dumont promoted the construction of Great Whale in the last Quebec election campaign I spoke out against it as Grand Chief. This was one of the reasons I supported Bernard Landry of the PQ even though I don’t support the separation of Quebec.

The Cree Nation had an opportunity to forever eliminate Quebec’s legal right to build Great Whale. This was on the table being negotiated. When the Quebec Government learned that my opponent Matthew Mukash changed his mind on the Paix des Braves Quebec changed its position.

I have taken every opportunity to prevent the construction of Great Whale. My opponent must answer for his actions and explain why the Great Whale hydro project is still alive.
