EIGHT DISTINGUISHED INDIVIDUALS WILL RECEIVE HONORARY DEGREES AT CONCORDIA

Shirin Ebadi, Bengt Saltin, Ted Moses, Claude Taylor, John Forzani, Norman D. Hébert, Robert Daudelin and Leo Goldfarb (posthumous)

– Eight distinguished individuals will receive honorary doctorates at Concordia University’s spring convocation ceremonies to be held on June 13, 14 and 15, 2005.

The recipients are Shirin Ebadi, Iranian lawyer and Nobel laureate 2003, defender of democracy and human rights; Dr. Bengt Saltin, Danish exercise physiologist and director of the Copenhagen Muscle Research Centre; Ted Moses, Grand Chief and Ambassador to the United Nations for the Grand Council of the Crees; Claude Taylor, business executive and honorary president of Air Canada; John Forzani, founder and president of the Forzani Group Ltd., the largest sporting goods retailer in Canada; Normand D. Hébert, founder of Quebec’s largest automobile sales company, the Groupe Park Avenue; Robert Daudelin, founder and chief executive officer of the Cinématèque québecoise and Leo Goldfarb (posthumous), philantropist and former president of the Jewish General Hospital.

This spring, over 4,000 graduates will join Concordia’s alumni ranks. They will receive degrees, diplomas or certificates from Concordia’s four Faculties and the School of Graduate Studies. Five ceremonies will be held in Salle Wilfrid Pelletier and Théâtre Maisonneuve of Place des Arts (175 Ste. Catherine West). The events will take place as follows:
