Living from the land is the foundation of our traditional values and an essential part of who we are. Some of us will always live a traditional way of life in the bush.
But for many of us, a new reality has taken us on a new path. It is our right to choose to benefit from development on Eeyou Istchee or to live in a traditional way on the land. Many of us choose both.
The new Relationship Agreement with Quebec has brought us a chance to create jobs in building our communities. It also improves the way of life for all Crees. While respecting our traditional activities on the land.
We have achieved prosperity through wise negotiation with the federal government of Canada and the province of Quebec.
We are strong.
We are vital.
We are Crees.
My family and I are dedicated to the strong future of the Cree Nation – together.
